1. Plainclothes
指的是便衣警察。"便衣"除了plainclothes，还可以用undercover 来形容，例如：undercover policeman，undercover FBI agent，undercover security guard 等等。
警察正式的名称是 police ，或是 policeman 。而警官则是 police officer。就像在中文里我们常常戏称警察为"条子"一样，在美国老美也戏称警察是 cop。这个用法由来是以前警察都穿那种有铜扣 的大衣，所以就被昵称为 copper。后来日子久了就变成了 cop。 这个词原来是有一点歧视的味道，不过时间久了，连警察们自己都互称是 cop，所以就变成一个中性的字眼了。
